Modifying a Resource Pool

You can edit a resource pool to change the resource limits or to add or remove users from the resource pool. The edit page for a resource pool is almost identical to the page for creating a resource pool, but it is missing the toggle for Shared Pool or Individual Pool. If you have created individual resource pools for your users, and you want to create an additional batch of individual resource pools from the same template, simply follow the same procedure as before in Creating a Resource Pool.

Procedure

Log into the CML UI as a user with administrator privileges.

Click the Tools ‣ System Administration menu item.

On the System Administration page, click Resource Pools.

The Resource Pools page is shown with a table of all resource pools and templates.

Find the resource pool that you want to modify and click Edit in the Actions column.

The Edit Pool page is shown.

You may need to scroll to the right to see the Actions column. If there is no Actions column in the table, click the gear button to configure which columns are shown in the table. Add the Actions column.

(Optional) Modify the value for any fields that you want to change. For example, you may change the resource pool’s name, description, or any of the resource limits.

Any resource limit that has no setting in the resource pool will instead use the value for that limit from the associated resource pool template. If a resource limit is not set in the resource pool and is not set in the associated resource pool template, then the value is unlimited. That is, the resource pool will not enforce a limit on that resource.

Note that you cannot change which resource pool template is associated with a resource pool.

(Optional) Click the Next button to view and edit the users associated with this resource pool.

(Optional) Click the Add button to select and add additional users to the resource pool. Alternatively, click Remove in the Actions column to remove an existing user from the resource pool.

Note that when modifying an existing resource pool, adding users simply adds those users to the current resource pool. The creation of separate resource pools for each selected user is a special bulk creation process that is only available when create a new resource pool. See Creating a Resource Pool.

If a user whom you add to the resource pool is currently a member of another resource pool, the user will be removed from the other resource pool when they are added to this resource pool. The UI will warn you about this fact and highlight the affected users in the page.

When you are done making changes to the resource pool, click the Update button to save your changes or the Cancel button to discard your changes.
