Downloading a Packet Capture

You can download a packet capture in PCAP format from the CML server to your local machine. You can only download the most recent packet capture on each link, and the packet captures are only available for download while the link is running.

Procedure

In the Workbench, click a link in the topology pane to select it.

Click the Packet Capture tab in the bottom pane of the Workbench.

If the link is not running, the Packet Capture pane will only show the message “Please start the link first to capture packets.” In that case, the lab or the link itself is not running. Be sure that the lab is running and then click the Simulate tab for the link. Click Start Link to start the link. Once the link has started, click the Packet Capture tab again.

In the Packet Capture pane, click the Download button.

The web browser will download packet capture as a PCAP file.

Open the PCAP file on your local machine in your preferred packet analysis tool.
