Fault fltDatetimeNtpqSyncFailed

Rule ID:2773

Explanation:
This fault occurs when a ntp configuration on a controller has problems

Recommended Action:
If you see this fault, take the following actions:

  1. Verify that the ntp peers are correctly configured and are reachable.
  2. Verify that the ntp peers have the correct keys.
  3. Configure multiple NTP servers to guarantee availability of a valid NTP Server for synchronization.
  4. The sources marked with 'x' are deduced to be having a false ticker. Configure multiple NTP Servers known to not have any issues.
  5. If multiple NTP Servers are configured try to figure out if all the servers are synchronized. Remove the NTP server that is out of sync.
  6. Verify whether NTP daemon is running in all or some of the NTP servers by going to Fabric->Inventory->Pod->Switch->Processes->ntp
  7. Verify if one or more of the NTP server have valid NTP configuration and valid NTP server sources.
  8. It is NOT recommended to use only two NTP servers.
  9. If more than one NTP server is required, four NTP servers is the recommended minimum. Four servers protects against one incorrect timesource, or "falseticker".
  10. If the above action did not resolve the issue, create a tech-support file and contact Cisco TAC.
