Asynchronous Messaging

Overview

Chat Messaging APIs can be used to build external integrations with custom messaging apps and messaging channels like Facebook Messenger etc. and building custom web templates. The chats created from these Chat Messaging APIs will be routed to agents like regular web chats and will have the web chat features available.

Use the Chat Messaging APIs to integrate with messaging apps and channels by doing the following:

Register the client applications for the integration from the Administration Console. For details, see ECE Administrator’s Guide to Chat and Collaboration Resources.
Use the following to integrate the messaging apps:
- Login using Authenticate client application API
- Get Entry Point configuration details using Get entrypoint configuration API
- Begin conversation using Start conversation API
- Send messages using Send message API
- Use the configured Webhooks Callback URL to receive the chat messages and events. Refer Webhook callback for information about message details posted onto this URL.
- End conversation using End conversation API
- Get details of a completed conversation using Get conversation details API
- Revoke authorization token using Revoke access token of client application API
